We have just gone through an election that is going to cause a great amount of turmoil. The winner is being claimed by both sides. Cheating and Fraud is rampant. Law suits will run for weeks to come. Regardless of who wins there will be trouble. Some folks will want to riot and burn our cities because their candidate did not win and the same group will want to riot and burn our cities to celebrate their candidate winning. To this particular group of people, it doesn’t matter who wins they will want to push their anarchy views on everyone in hopes of destroying our country. Many people will be affected by the riots and the possibility of many being hurt is certainly there. Everyone will be affected by the political outcome of the election regardless of who wins. Matthew 6:34 states, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” We are also reminded in Jeremiah 29:11 that we should rest easy because God tells us, ‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Evil is living among us and is not even trying to hide. Some of our larger cities have lost control and criminals are running the streets without being hindered. Murder rates have soared in Chicago and New York. Sex trade businesses do not even hide their activities. A record number of arrests have been made in recent months involving children’s sex trade and white slavery. The news media has completely ignored these arrest and act as if these crimes do not exist. A lot of evil seems to be winning the battle for the hearts and minds of our people. But Proverbs 3:5-6 reassures us to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Then Isaiah 41:10 tells us to, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Since March of this year, many of our common-sense ways have been challenged and many of our freedoms have been taken away. The days when Americans had little fear and would stand together and question acts that went against our way of life have almost disappeared. The American people have surrendered to a false panic and allowed the politician to hijack our way of caring for each other. The media has worked in concert with the power-hunger politicians making the population believe that a virus with a 99;8% survival rate is going to kill everyone if we don’t allow them to ruin our small businesses, make everyone hide behind a mask that protects nothing or no one, and let the politician dictate our every move. One of the first things the politicians attacked was our church. They stated if they did not force the churches to close everyone would die. But it is safe for everyone to shop at the big box stores without fear of the virus. The Washington Times gives a perspective not seen in the TV media stating, “The new coronavirus is real. The response to the coronavirus is hyped. And in time, this hype will be revealed as politically hoaxed. In fact, COVID-19 will go down as one of the political world’s biggest, most shamefully overblown, overhyped, overly and irrationally inflated, and outright deceptively flawed responses to a health matter in American history, one that was carried largely on the lips of medical professionals who have no business running a national economy or government. The facts are this: COVID-19 is a real disease that sickens some, proves fatal to others, mostly the elderly — and does nothing to the vast majority. That’s it.” (Chumley, 2020) Jeff Lukens writes in the American Thinker. “In this great country, it’s not a crime to be a Christian — at least not yet. But the Left is working on it. Free expression of religion is not just shunned. It is ridiculed and mocked. Anti-Christian bigotry is the only form of acceptable intolerance remaining in this country — to be encouraged and incited by our “tolerant” liberal friends in academia, the media, and entertainment. (Lukens, 2019) The arrival of Covid-19 played perfectly into the hands of those that want to see the church fail. The sad thing is they did not disguise their gleefulness when they were able to close the doors to our churches. The thing that was even more upsetting is that the churchgoers did little or nothing to stop the left from closing the churches. This should never have been allowed to happen. Churchgoers everywhere should have remembered that Zephaniah 3:17 tells us to be brave that, “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Mr. Lukens goes on to say that, “Christian principles were foundational to the American Republic. Yet what matters to the Left is silencing the Christian influence of this nation. The battle to destroy Christianity is really the battle to destroy America. The intolerant Left is replacing the structure of an orderly and benevolent norm with falsehoods, distortions, intimidation, and violence. Unfortunately, traditional American Christians have been on the losing end of the culture war for a long time.” (Lukens, 2019) The church has been attacked and it has created great harm to many people. This quarantine has seen domestic violence at an all-time high, drug and alcohol use is out of hand, suicide has soared. The church for many people is their only family, their only source of stability, the place they come to feel loved and necessary. Closing the churches was wrong on many levels but it was especially cruel to those alone and elderly. We must remember Romans 8:18 confirms, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” This should give us comfort going forward but it is still very difficult for those affected today.
The election will decide many issues and allow us to move forward to a new set of problems. But unfortunately, the election will not cause the hateful, disgruntled, and anarchist to change their ways. Those that hate our country, despise or way of life, and loath the freedom that we enjoy will still be here trying to disrupt our peace and tranquility. We can not allow these people to win and we can not become complacent to their actions and demands. We also must remember that we are responsible for our actions and should not judge others. Romans 12:19 states, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’” This is another one of those verses that are easy to read, easy to understand, and difficult to fulfill. Regardless of the election results, the future is in God’s hands and his plan is always better than any plan we can create. Jeremiah 1:5 lets God reminds us that, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” And then later Jeremiah 29:11 lets us know that God is in charge stating, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” We all play a part in God’s plan and we have to believe that his plan will be in our best interest and we should not fear the future. Only when we allow our free will to alter God’s plan will we find trouble. So, we need to pray for strength, wisdom, and knowledge to go into the unknown future doing God’s plan. Romans 8:28 states, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
